Scope:
This course has been designed in accordance with CEPT/ERC Rec. T/R 31-04E and article S48 of the Radio Regulations, and incorporating the Certificate of Competency in Radiotelephony (VHF).
This course is not conducted in accordance with requirements of the STCW Convention. It is conducted for non – SOLAS vessels (e.g. pleasure craft and certain fishing vessels which are not required to comply with any International Agreements).
Objective:
A trainee successfully completing this course and passing the prescribed examination will be a competent radio operator and know the correct procedure for distress, urgency, safety by means of marine VHF DSC radio. They will be able to operate a marine band VHF radio fitted with Digital Selective Calling (DSC).
Course Content:
- General knowledge of VHF radiotelephone communications in maritime mobile service
- Detailed working knowledge of radio equipment
- Operational procedures of the GMDSS communication system and detailed practical operation of GMDSS subsystems and equipment
- Operational procedures and regulations for VHF radiotelephone communication

Prerequisite:
- At least 16 years of age
- Identification card or passport
- 2 passport size colored photographs
- Minimum elementary school education report card
- Medical exam (hearing, sight and speech) issued by Occupational health practice in Republic of Croatia, not older than 6 months

Note to Client:
After successful completion of the course and examination at the Harbour Office candidates will receive a VHF DSC Radio Operator’s certificate issued by the Ministry of the Sea, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia.
